I once heard a story about a parent who responded to the poor garden crop by saying, "we are not raising a garden. We are raising children." Today, when the 17 month old helped me sweep the floor and then took the vacuum from my hands, I thought "I am not keeping a house, I'm keeping kids." Keeping? Yes. Alive, healthy, sometimes happy, interested, safe, invigorated. As inconvenient as all of that is for the measurable level of productivity, it is sure delightful.
Adam, last week
This is 3 year old a few weeks ago, so sick with a nasty fever for days. Yet he insisted that he was NOT tired and did not need to go to bed. I think he feel asleep on the floor and I carried him to bed without his consent.
